WHAT IS CLUB ED SURF CAMP
Club Ed's surf school camps are among the most respected in the world.

Experienced
EdKnown as the Professor of Surfing at UCSC, Ed took his solid background teaching water sports to open up his own surf school. Ed was the Outdoor Recreation Program Director at Fort Ord for 7 years. He coached a winning army surf team placing in the top 5 of 35 teams for 5 consecutive years. He is a winning competitor in local surf contests.

Fun!
Ed's personality is fun loving and easy going. He knows that enjoyment of the experience of learning is as important as achieving personal goals. Enjoyment of the moment is paramount at his surfing school and camp.

Passionate
Ed has devoted himself to surfing since 1969 and it has been his personal focus for over 35 years. His surfing ventures include Australia, Indonesia, Chile, Hawaii, Mainland Mexico, Baja, Costa Rica, Fiji, Hawaii, Nicaragua, Samoa, The Maldives and the Phillipines. However, Ed's specialty is intimately knowing the local waves.

Surfing Roots
Ed's Grandma Ed comes by his surfing ability and skills naturally, you could even say it's in his genes! In 1915, his grandmother, Dorothy Becker Lineer was taught to surf by David Kahanamoku, The Duke's younger brother, while she was competing in a National Swim Meet in Hawaii. (Duke Kahanamoku was considered the "Ambassador of Surfing"). Besides setting the world record for the 50 yard freestyle, Ed's Grandmother was the first woman ever to perform a headstand on a surfboard!

Success
All Club Ed students are guaranteed to stand up and ride waves! Teaching surfing professionally since 1983, Ed has perfected his ability to teach and transmit skill and knowledge. Ed loves to help others feel the joy of surfing. This includes his annual organization of the "Shared Adventure" to give tandem surfing rides to the physically challenged. Ed is a teacher at heart, for all ages and abilities.

Surfboard Design
Since 1989, Ed has shaped & designed surfboards with Bob Pearson of Pearson Arrow Surfboards in Santa Cruz. With Ed's design background, he can provide ideal equipment to suit you. With his teaching background, Ed designs custom training programs for every level and goal.
